Short summary
Drilling carbon-fiber-reinforced plastics often causes exit-hole damage that weakens the material. We developed a rotary ultrasonic-assisted drilling solution. Tests show that combining high spindle speed, low feed rate, and coarse-grit tools produces near-perfect holes with minimal damage. This method offers manufacturers a reliable technique for high-quality carbon-fiber-reinforced plastics, enabling safer aerospace and automotive products.
